Properties of the Spectral Energy Distribution of GRB Afterglows in the Early Phases
Abstract
Thanks to Swift it is now possible to study the afterglow spectral energy distribution (SED) in the first few minutes-hours after the burst explosion. Besides testing the various models and derive their parameters, the characterisation of the afterglow SEDs provides also the opportunity to study the properties of the high-redshift ISM. We will present the analysis of a sample of GRB afterglows of known redshift. By comparing their X-ray and optical emission we will derive information on the gas and dust content of the GRB environment.
